Everyday Moments are Learning Moments
Join WKAR, Capital Area District Libraries, Great Start and the Early Childhood Literacy Coalition for “Everyday Moments are Learning Moments.”
This two-week period of free activities for children, birth to five, and their families runs from October 15-31.
The event kicks off with two “Literacy Celebration” stage shows at Lansing Mall (Saturday, October 17, from Noon-3 p.m.) and Meridian Mall (Sunday, October 18, from Noon-3 p.m.)
Those featured in the shows will be storyteller Jean Bolley, Michigan Teacher of the Year Robert L. Stephenson, and Martha the Dog from Martha Speaks!, seen weekdays on WKAR-TV. Also featured is Eric Carle’s “Very Hungry Caterpillar.
WKAR’s Ready To Learn Service will be on hand to provide free literacy materials to families.
In addition to the mall shows, the literacy celebration includes visits at various locations, including libraries and some childcare facilities by Martha and other storybook characters. For a complete schedule, visit cadl.org.
