"On Point" Reports from China

They say the rise of China will be the biggest story of the 21st century.

All next week (April 14-18), On Point will be broadcast live from Shanghai. On Point is broadcast weekdays at 10 a.m., on WKAR/AM870.

In an exiting week of shows from the frontline of global change, the series – hosted by Tom Ashbrook – will dive into the ideas, economics, people, culture and politics that are driving China today. Reporters will speak with movers and shakers, with party bosses and those who challenge them, with artists and activists and business moguls and visionaries—all describing what China is today and imaging what China will become and its looming impact on the world.

On Point will open the phone lines from Shanghai for America’s comments and questions. For Tom Ashbrook, the trip is a kind of “old home week” journey to a changed home.  He spent a decade of his early life, and his first years in journalism, in and around China.  Now, as China bursts upon the world in the year of the Beijing Olympic Games, he’ll go back with “On Point”.  We can’t wait.  We hope you and your listeners will join us as the “On Point” conversation takes on China.

On Point in China will have a special website for the program that will launch Wednesday, April 9.
