WKAR eNews BULLETIN: Mon 11/3/08
90.5 WKAR will pre-empt its Tuesday night classical music line-up on November 4 (Election Day) for special election coverage. "WKAR doesn't normally pre-empt music programming for special events coverage unless the event is of overwhelming national importance," says station manager Curt Gilleo. "Because this year's election may fit into that category, we've decided to air NPR's live overnight election coverage." Coverage will begin with an election edition of "All Things Considered," hosted locally by Mark Bashore, from 4-7 p.m. National Public Radio (NPR) will offer special election coverage from 7 p.m. through midnight with local return updates from WKAR's Kevin Lavery. The NPR-only coverage will continue until 3am. Coverage resumes Wednesday at 5am, when "Morning Edition" with Melissa Ingells offers complete national and local returns. Because of election night coverage, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra scheduled for 7 p.m. on November 4 will be aired on Wednesday, November 5, also at 7 p.m. Coverage of national results on WKAR-HD/23 will begin at 7 p.m. with "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer" and continue until midnight.
