The Debate for Governor 2006 Monday, October 2 at 8 p.m. WKAR-TV and 90.5 WKAR WKAR Confirms Statewide Gubernatorial Debate on Public Television and Radio Governor Jennifer Granholm and Dick DeVos have accepted WKAR-TV's debate proposal. The live, one hour statewide debate between the incumbent Democratic governor and the Republican challenger will air Monday, October 2, at 8 p.m., on PBS stations throughout Michigan. WKAR will also repeat the debate on Saturday, October 7, at 6 p.m. Subscribers of Comcast Cable Services in the Greater Lansing/East Lansing/Meridian areas can watch on 'KAR2 (cable channel 18 in Lansing; cable channel 27 in East Lansing/Meridian) on Wednesday, October 4, at 9 p.m. and Saturday, October 7, at 6 p.m. The debate will also be available live on 90.5 WKAR. Rick Pluta will anchor Michigan Public Radio Network coverage. Beginning Tuesday, October 3, the television special will be available for online viewing at WKAR.org, and the MPRN radio coverage will be available as a downloadable podcast. The Debate for Governor 2006 will also be carried by WJBK FOX2 Detroit and WILX-TV10 in Lansing. Other television broadcast partners will be announced as they are known. Participants for this debate were chosen based on criteria established by the Michigan Public Broadcasting Board of Directors.
