More About Rob South

WKAR Profile - Rob South
January 2009

Rob South, a 1996 Michigan State University telecommunications graduate, has always felt at home working for WKAR.

South worked at WKAR Radio and TV while he was a student at MSU. He began his public broadcasting career in 1993 as a technician for the Michigan Public Radio Network (MPRN), which is housed at WKAR Radio.

In 1998, South left WKAR to work for WGVU/Grand Rapids as the station's local Morning Edition host. He has also worked for Interlochen Public Radio, and WMUK in Kalamazoo.

South returned to WKAR in 2004, reporting on local politics and municipal government. He also acts as fill-in host for Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

South is happy to be back in the Lansing area and at WKAR. He says the news team is a professional group that he's proud to be a part of.

South, his wife and their three adopted children live in a 150-year-old house in Eaton Rapids.

When he's not busy chasing after his kids, he enjoys working on his home, yard, and garden. He also likes to fix things, which he says is good, since the kids maintain a never-ending stream of broken toys.
